Les Affreux is a raw novel about a man who suffered a brain haemorrhage and is completely paralysed, except for his arm and hand. Alfonse Maubard is a prisoner in his own body. From his wheelchair, he observes the life and the woman he intended to leave: his wife Clarisse. At first, his wife takes care of him, but when she finds out he had a mistress, he needs to leave.

The story is told by Alfonse himself and the language he uses reflects his life so far: his sentences are short and choppy.

Les Affreux made it to the first round of the Prix du Premier Roman and has won the Prix de Coeur des Lycéens in 2013.
