Lucy wood grew up in Cornwall and gained her Master’s degree in creative writing at Exeter University. In 2012 her short story collection Diving Belles was published. This collection was well received and Wood captured two awards: the Holyer an Gof Award, an award for books written about Cornwall or in Cornish, and a Somerset Maugham Award, a literary award for young authors. In addition, she has been nominated for other famous literary prizes, such as the Dylan Thomas Prize and the BBC National Short Story Award. Weathering is her debut novel. During the writing process of this book Wood took long walks which provided relaxation and diversion, but from which she also received much inspiration for her novel. Wood lives in Devon.
