Vicky Francken (1989, Netherlands)

Vicky Francken studied French Language and Culture at Utrecht University. While attending her master’s programme in Translation Studies, she was awarded a scholarship for talented literary translators in July 2012, provided by the Dutch Foundation for Literature. In 2013 she completed a thesis about the translation process of the digital moving poems of Dutch poet Tonnus Oosterhoff. After graduation she took part in a project called The European Translation Factory (De Europese Vertalersfabriek/La Fabrique européenne des Traducteurs), in the course of which she worked on a translation in de Translators’ Houses in Amsterdam and Arles (France). Thanks to the scholarship she published translations in Dutch literary review Terras. Her first literary book translation was published in February 2014: Roland Fagel and Vicky Francken worked together for a translation of The Valley of Amazement, written by Amy Tan.

Vicky Francken

Solange Bied-Charreton (1983, France) lives and works in Paris. Her first novel, Enjoy, was published by Stock in 2012. Recently, in 2014, she published her second novel: ‘Nous sommes jeunes et fiers’. May 2014 she will participate in the Festival du livre de Caen.
