Sanne van der Meij (1990, The Netherlands)

Sanne has studied French in Groningen and is currently enrolled in the Master’s programme Literary Translation at Utrecht University. She expects to receive her degree this year. During her studies she discovered Québécois literature, which is both unique and has its own themes. She has developed that interest and now specialises in translating literature from Quebec. In addition to studying for her Master’s degree, she also works on the digitization of the paper archive of Filter, a renowned translation magazine. When Sanne is not nose-deep in her books she is either making stamps or drinking cappuccino in the picturesque town centre of Dokkum.

Ryad Assani-Razaki (1981), born in Cotonou, Benin, was seventeen when he went to North Carolina to study information science. He obtained his Master’s degree in Quebec and is currently working as an information scientist in Toronto.

He inherited his love of literature from his mother. He has published two books: the collection of short stories Deux Cercles (2009), for which he received the Prix Trillium (Trillium Award) in 2010, and the novel La main d’Iman (2011), for which he was awarded the Prix Robert-Cliché.
