
Vanessa Barbara (1982, São Paulo) is a journalist, translator and writer. She is a columnist for various newspapers (Folha de São Paulo, The New York Times) and in 2008 she published her first novel O verão de Chibo, co-written with Emílio Fraia. That same year she won the Jabuti-prize for journalism for O livro amarelo do terminal. Barbara translated The Great Gatsby in Portuguese, among other works, and is editor of the website A Hortaliça (www.hortifruti.org). In 2012 Vanessa Barbara was selected as one of the twenty new promising authors in Brazilian literature by Granta magazine. Noites de Alface is her first solo novel and her international debut.
